WHY IT IS NEEDED: Global fossil fuels are scheduled to be depleted by 2050.  The time has come for us to develop alternative fuel sources for our homes, businesses, schools, churches, and modes of transportation.  We need to do this not only to maintain our current way of life but also for the continued existence of life as we know it.  Global warming which has been caused by the burning of fossil fuels in modern industrial society is a reality with serious consequences including, coastal flooding, intense storms, drought, disease, and famine.   If we do nothing, global warming will only intensify and undermine our ability to continue as a species in the same capacity that we now enjoy. 

HOW IT WILL BE DONE: We propose creating a General Alternative Energy Fund of $100 billion dollars drawn from the current military budget of $690 billion dollars for the research and development of alternative energy sources including, fuel cell technology, battery technology, electricity, and renewable energy sources such as wind power, hydro-electric power, and the most powerful and renewable energy source we possess – the sun (solar power).
