HIV/AIDS, because of the way it is transmitted, has the potential to undermine not just the health of our country but the health of all of humanity. While infection rates around the world have remained relatively stable during the last few years, today a full one million people in the United States are infected with HIV/AIDS. We support increased federal funding for more intensive research and development into the prevention, treatment, and cure of HIV/AIDS.
